Flexible architectural infrastructure, open to the community
The project is conceived as an architectural infrastructure rather than a finished, self-contained object. It functions as a permanent built framework capable of supporting successive transformations in working methods, technologies, and the relationship between the institution and the community, without losing its urban, structural, or functional coherence.
In a context where office space is subject to accelerated change — driven by digitalization, artificial intelligence, extended connectivity, and hybrid working practices — the project avoids rigid typologies and proposes a flexible spatial system, open to multiple usage scenarios. The architecture does not prescribe a single way of occupying the space, but instead creates the conditions for adaptation, collaboration, and reconfiguration over time.
From a technical point of view, this approach is supported by a clear separation between:
- the permanent structure, dimensioned for long life span and intensive use;
- reversible elements, which can be adapted, replaced, or reconfigured without major interventions.
The regular structural grid and the off-centered core free up the floor plates and allow the organization of open spatial fields that can be easily adjusted according to functional requirements. The center of the building is treated as a flexible space, capable of functioning alternatively as an open collaborative work area, an institutional forum, an event space, or an extension of public activities.
The project does not fix a single usage scenario, but provides an infrastructure for multiple possibilities, accepting change as a design parameter. Architecture thus becomes a support for the evolution of the institution, new forms of work, and the dynamic relationship between administration, technology, and community, while maintaining urban and constructive coherence.
