URBAN REVITALIZATION OF THE CENTRAL AREA OF FLOREȘTI

FLOREȘTI CLUJ, ROMANIA

World Bank study, 2021

During the socialist period and, more recently, the post-socialist period, these elements of the natural framework were ignored and treated with indifference. During the socialist era, with the construction of collective housing complexes, the stream was channeled, and shortly afterward, in the post-socialist period, it was obstructed by a series of improvised constructions (garages, warehouses, commercial spaces). This culminated in covering a section of the valley with parking spaces. This trend could lead to the disappearance of this natural element from the urban landscape in the future, a development completely opposed to all contemporary attitudes regarding the organization of public spaces, which focus on sustainable, ecological principles aimed at enhancing urban comfort.
